Directions to Conococheague Institute, Rock Hill Farm, 12995 Bain Road,
Mercersburg, PA 17236 (near Welsh Run)
**-Take Interstate 81 North to Greencastle Exit 5, PA Rt. 16
-Go left and follow rt. 16 through Greencastle (it’s Main street of Greencastle)
-At the round about in the square go straight. You’ll come to a signal light a block or so after the square. A Sheetz store will be on your right at the light. Go straight through at the light towards Mercersburg. Go about 6 miles, through the little village of Upton until you see a sign for PA 995 on the left to Welsh Run.
-Follow 995 for 3 miles and you’ll be at the stop sign in Welsh Run. Go straight through here, past the Robert Kennedy Memorial Presbyterian Church on the left. Soon you’ll pass a sign on the left for Trayer’s Farm & Greenhouses on a right hand curve. Next you’ll pass the Welsh Run Church of the Brethren (a stone church) soon on the left.
-The church sets on the crest of a hill. About 600 yds. or so, turn left onto Bain Road.
-In .8 mile you’ll see a sign for Conococheague Institute, Rock Hill Farm on the right. You can turn right into the macadam drive to the farmhouse or you can continue about 500 ft. and turn into the dirt lane just before the log house on the hill.
-The office is in the farmhouse and the library is at the end of the macadam drive. The dirt lane farther ahead takes you to the Welsh Barrens Visitor Center which is still under construction and further down the lane, the Negley log house.
** If coming from South such as Hagerstown or Clear Spring, MD, take route 40 to St. Paul’s Church road. Follow that until you come to a stop sign (several miles), go straight after stopping. Follow this road until you come to the next stop sign. (road becomes Bain Road after you cross the MD/PA border) Turn left at this stop, go 2 or 3 carlengths and turn right. Find us about .5 miles on the left.
